The legendary liqueur Cointreau celebrates its 170th birthday this year and we thought we’d mark the occasion with a celebration dedicated to the world’s favourite orange spirit.
This luscious blend of sweet and bitter orange peels is one of the two main ingredients in the classic Margarita, so naturally you’ll find that on the menu, along with a range of other delicious Cointreau-based drinks.
The Margarita, a compelling combination of Cointreau, tequila and lime, is believed to have been invented in Mexico 1938 for the former Ziegfeld Follies showgirl, Marjorie King.
Although Dallas socialite Margarita Sames is also said to have created the quintessential summer cocktail for her guests at a glamorous party in Acapulco.
Or it may have been named after Margarita Cansino, better known as Rita Hayworth, who enjoyed the drink while performing in Tijuana in the 1940s
We love all the stories as much as we love our Cointreau Margaritas.
Come along and enjoy a glass or two at our celebration this summer!
